License strings for Planatech products are made of several tokens, separated by colons. Each token contains an initial upper-case letter signifying the token ID, followed by one or more characters representing the token value.
The table below lists the tokens and their meanings.

| W | Machine configuration | Various configuration details which identify the computer on which the license is being used |
| E | Expiry date | The date on which the license becomes invalid, in YYYYMMDD format |
| F | Flags | Numeric bit-flag listing the activities permitted under the license |
| U | Users | The maximum number of concurrent users (floating licenses only) |
| L | License ID | Unique license identifier |
| R | Required product | The product code of a product required by this license (upgrades only) |
